LOTS OF DELICIOUS NEW IDEAS
Hamburg Wholesale Market publishes second cookery book in aid of the Hamburger Tafel soup kitchen

Hamburg, 30 September 2010

The second cookery book in aid of the Hamburger Tafel was published on 30 September 2010 and its programmatic title is “Simple, cheap, delicious cooking”.

Like its predecessor, the new book contains recipes for delicious snacks and main meals, including typical Hamburg fare, wholefood dishes and ideas for the next children’s party, all of which are easy to prepare and do not cost a lot of money.

Several of Hamburg’s star chefs such as Cornelia Poletto, Rainer Sass, Ali Güngörmüs and Andreas Steinwardt have supported the book concept by contributing recipes that people will want to try out for themselves - another contributor is NDR announcer Alexander Bommes, who shares his favourite recipe with readers.

The collection of recipes is published by the trader’s association Hamburg Wholesale Market Administrative Cooperative (GHVG), which has supported the Hamburger Tafel for many years and sponsors the Tafel’s cookery classes for young mothers by providing the fresh ingredients. In fact, the cookery classes were the inspiration for the recipe books.

Since the first edition in 2008 was such a success, it was soon obvious that a second book would have to be produced. And so this collection has been eagerly awaited.
The proceeds from the sale of the books will fund additional Tafel cookery classes for young families living on a tight budget.

Torsten Berens, managing director of Hamburg Wholesale Market, takes a particularly keen interest in the work of the Hamburger Tafel: “A lot of people do not have much time to cook healthy and varied meals for themselves or their families. Many low-income families have not heard much about how to cook affordable meals with fresh, healthy food. This cookery book also serves as a valuable guide to healthy eating – which is something we feel strongly about.”

Hamburg bookseller Heymann is also a supporter of this cookery book, which is sold exclusively in their branches and online at www.heymann-buecher.de.

The cookery book costs 8.00 euros.
